American Chop Suey

Total Time: 2 hrs Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 5
  • 1 lb hamburger, browned and drained
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 (4 1/2 ounce) jar mixed mushrooms (i like to double it)
  • 1 pint canned whole tomatoes
  • 3/4 cup raw rice
  • seasoning salt (i prefer creole seasoning) or salt and pepper (i prefer creole seasoning)

Recipe

  • 1 mix ingredients in skillet.
  • 2 do not saute' or cook veggies first or you will get mush.
  • 3 season with seasoning salt or salt and pepper to taste.
  • 4 cover, and leave on highheat until food begins to steam and you see steam coming out from under the lid.
  • 5 turn off heat and leave on burner for 1 hours.
  • 6 do not lift cover during cooking period.
