Black Bean And Rice Burgers(guam)

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • olive oil flavored cooking spray
  • cornmeal, for dusting
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained
  • 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
  • 1/2 cup corn kernel
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds, coarsely ground
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oil (canola, flaxseed or olive)
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375°f.
  • 2 pan spray a 14" x 16" cookie sheet and dust with cornmeal.
  • 3 in a large bowl combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly. let the mixture stand for 15 minutes.
  • 4 divide and form into 8 patties using wax paper and place on baking sheet.
  • 5 bake 30 to 35 minutes or until browned and firm.
  • 6 serve as you would traditional ones with fat free condiments such as ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, etc. on a whole wheat bun. healthy and delicious!
