Cooking Club Empanadas

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon clove
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chile, crushed
  • pepper
  • pastry dough

Recipe

  • 1 saute hamburger with onion and garlic until the meat is no longer pink.
  • 2 stir in remaining ingredients.
  • 3 cook for 15 minutes over medium heat.
  • 4 cool completely.
  • 5 roll pastry to 1/8"thickness.
  • 6 cut into 3"rounds.
  • 7 place a spoonful of filling on each round.
  • 8 dampen pastry edges.
  • 9 fold pastry over.
  • 10 prick top with a fork.
  • 11 can be frozen at this point.
  • 12 place on ungreased cookie sheet one inch apart.
  • 13 bake 20 minutesat 350.
