Hamburger Soup

Total Time: 2 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1/2-1 lb hamburger
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 onion, medium,chopped
  • 2 quarts water
  • 1/2 cup barley or 1/2 cup rice
  • 16 ounces canned tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 bag frozen vegetables, your choice
  • salt
  • pepper
  • garlic powder

Recipe

  • 1 partially brown the hamburger and drain.
  • 2 toss in the celery and onion, and cook until translucent.
  • 3 drain again.
  • 4 pour in water.
  • 5 if using barley, toss in and simmer 1 hour.
  • 6 if using rice, simmer 1/2 hour and then toss in rice and simmer 1/2 hour more.
  • 7 partially chop the tomatoes, and add the potatoes and vegetables.
  • 8 simmer 45 minutes more.
  • 9 add salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
