Deer-potato-tomato Casserole

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs ground deer meat
- 1 medium onion (coarse chop)
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 4 large unpeeled potatoes, thickly sliced
- 6 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped or 1 (28 ounce) can chopped tomatoes
- 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
Recipe
- 1 cook deer burger, onion, basil, salt and pepper together until deer is done and lost its color.
- 2 meanwhile, parboil potatoes until just tender.
- 3 put deer burger in a deep 7 1/2 x 7 1/2-inch casserole and stir in potatoes and tomatoes (if canned tomatoes are used, do not drain).
- 4 bake, uncovered, in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
- 5 top with cheese and bake 15 minutes longer.
