Hamburger Barley Vegetable Soup

Ingredients

- 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
- 6 cups water
- 3 beef bouillon cubes or 3 teaspoons instant beef bouillon
- 2 cups sliced carrots
- 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped onions
- 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped celery
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup coarsely chopped green pepper
- 1/2 cup barley
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 cup parsley (optional)
- 28 ounces tomatoes
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
Recipe
- 1 brown ground beef, drain fat.
- 2 add rest of ingredients, bring to boil and simmer one hour or until barley and vegetables are tender.
