Down Home Pulled Lamb

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups onions, chopped
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 5 lbs boneless lamb loin
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 8 -10 hamburger buns

Recipe

  • 1 preheat grill for indirect cooking over medium heat. sprinkle lamb loin with pepper and garlic salt. place on grill and book about 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until internal temperature reaches 155-160 degrees. allow meat to cool while preparing sauce. shred lamb into small pieces discarding any remaining fat. place lamb in large pot and stir sauce into lamb. simmer for 40 minutes. serve on warmed rolls.
  • 2 for sauce: heat butter in large saucepan. add onion and stir frequently until softened, about 5 minutes. add remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes.
