Grandma's Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

- 1 lb hamburger
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash pepper
- 3/4 cup tomato juice
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 3/4 cup water
- quick cooking oatmeal
Recipe
- 1 brown hamburger and onion, drain. combine brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, tomato juice, ketchup and water--pour over browned hamburger. bring to a boil, then simmer over medium low heat. while simmering, add small amounts of quick cooking oatmeal to hamburger mixture to thicken up sauce--sprinkle slowly in parts. serve over buns.
